Nationwide Reconciliation Mission is a mission created with the good will of many reconciliation men in the northern districts. First it was created in Shkoder and now it has extended its activity in the entire Albania. The most respected families in society led this mission. The banner (leading) families, after 1990, found a great respect among the people, not only for the ordeal and sufferings through which they passed in the dictatorial regime, but above all for the virtues that characterized them. In the North there were no titles or social positions based on property, but only on virtues, qualities and contribution given to society. Since 1990 these noble men and women started to meet people with inherited worries and conflicts. In the absence of the state, some families and individuals, in an unjust way started to recall the old blood feuds and so the first confinements began.
After this, every event, murder and trouble caused blood feud among people. And here started the reconciliation mission creation. Since 1991 until 1997 this mission carried out successfully much reconciliation. But after 1997, a dark mind threatened slyly and exerted terror on the Mission leader, the honored Ndrek Pjetri. For these reasons, he was obliged to flee to Canada immediately. After this moment, the mission was divided in some groups damaging heavily the reconciliation question.
The Missionaries have been tolerant and they have forgiven the people who created these groups separately for their personal aims. Now the real missionary men and women have again founded the former mission giving it the former name The Nationwide Reconciliation Mission. We have reorganized the National council and the presidency to lead the mission in the future. We thank the local government leaders in the district, the political parties and the three religions clergy supporting us in unifying the mission as it were in 1990. We will cooperate with all those associations and groups really willing to work for the blood feud prevention and every other conflict in society. We never agreed that the aid to the families in blood feud be given by a sack of flour or food package, because in most cases these aids have been sent to the market to be sold. This is not the way to solve the confined people problem.
The Nationwide Reconciliation Mission has taken a decision not to accept the delivery of such aid. The confined people should be helped differently. They are not in need of one or two days food aid. We were in Iballa meeting where stress was put on the noble families and all society factors in the unconditional release of the confined women and children. We have continuously supported the Committee strategy and we will always be heading the reconciliation works with honesty and sacrifices. |
